Sweet Serene Sagada

22nd December 2008 - We left the sweet old couple with a heavy heart. It is after all difficult to leave kindness behind. Ahh..yet another slow bus ride. It took us nearly 3 hours to get to Abatan from Capuyuan and another 2 and a Half hours bus ride to Sagada. It was worth it!

Sagada is in the mountains, surrounded by caves. The town is small yet peaceful. We started by signing up to do some caving!
Above, coffins suspended from the cliff face. Below, are coffins stacked at the entrance of the cave! Some believed to be about 500 years old!
Above, note the interesting limestone formation which must have taken hundreds of years of flowing water to form. No, not the human model pose!(That only took seconds!)
Treacherous and slippery! I slipped into the pool of water. Note, it is mandatory to have a guide as it is so dark that we could easily have gotten lost inside these caves!

It took about 2 1/2 hours to go through the cave-to-cave connection which linked Sumaging and Lumiang caves but it was fun and well worth the time! Definitely a must-do if in Sagada!
