Quirky Moonrise Kingdom

Movie night after a fantastic spread of mexican dinner (courtesy of Rachael, Mariam), what more could you ask for after a week of heartstopping nerve-wrecking fully loaded week of reality. That's what I love Fridays for.

Odd but interesting, Moonrise Kingdom gave me a sense of detachment from reality. I love the strange, the awkward and the coming into of first love. Seems like yesterday, and I almost relate. I did however find the movie a little depressing at some points as there are specks of coldness interwoven into this pure innocent play, infidelity, depression, anger. I guess it shows, I am not always a fan of realism, we already live in it, we don't have to watch it as well. So I'm on the fence on this.

However this residual feeling of melancholy may be brought about by news that my close close friends are leaving one by one. Anya and Nirvick by May, Rach and Mark by June, even I should probrably leave this place I have called home for the last 2 years or so in August. Hong Kong has in it, a handful of like-minded souls, a myriad of friends all different yet the same. These people I call friends. Change is just around the corner, and as usual brings along this sense of insecurity and a little apprehension.

It is going to be hard to leave.
