There's something about surprises

They are absolute fun!

Nian, Happy Birthday...I hope you enjoyed how Rach & I dragged you up the peak for a "so-called" Sunday easy hike on a foggy & cold afternoon when in fact we were power walking as we were short on time, and didn't want the rest of the Surprise committee to freeze on Victoria peak garden.

I will always remember the look of surprise on your face as we seemed lost while trying to navigate the vast gardens trying to look for our party. If only we checked our phones, we would have known where exactly to meet. Or the fact that we just seemed very determined to run the whole way up. Even more when you asked why we were carrying our bulky backpacks laden with surprise food for a supposedly short hike and all I could manage with a straight face was "I love my backpack, in fact I have 3 at home". I am sure you thought I was mildly aphasic but were too nice to say.

Do you remember your surprise tram party last year and of course I had the most unfortunate timing of ending up at the same crossroad as you at the end of nowhere in West Hong Kong? Tristan had a face as red as a tomato and I could feel his "I could kill you" eyes after the repeated instructions to appear at least 15 minutes before you did. You were surprised and wondered what I was doing here and I said "I have friends. Bye" and disappeared. Oh how you must have thought I was somehow not right somewhere. But again you were too nice, and didn't comment.

And somehow, we still managed to surprise you!

Happy Birthday Nian, it's really nice to surprise you the second time around! I hope your year will be amazing. I am looking forward to more of your surprise parties.

The very foggy day at Victoria Peak gardens. Perfect to hide for a surprise!

Someone forgot to bring a birthday cake, so she had a birthday ham instead!
